Bisou is a dating and connection app built around Vedic astrology and a compatibility-focused approach to matchmaking. As the team prepared to pitch the concept to Match Group, they needed a visual identity and presentation that could bring their product vision to life.
The brief called for a whimsical, collage-inspired aesthetic that brought together romance, mysticism, and technology.
my role - brand & creative design
I developed three visual directions for Bisou, exploring different approaches to typography, illustration, colour, and imagery.
The team selected my celestial-inspired concept, which became the foundation for the pitch presentation. I also designed the original logo and early app concepts to demonstrate how the identity could translate into a digital product.
Bisou has since launched on iOS and Android, retaining the original logo and elements of the visual direction.

deliverables
Visual exploration, logo design, brand identity, investor pitch presentation, early app design concepts.
The brief called for something whimsical and romantic, with collage-inspired visuals that could bring astrology and technology together.
I developed three distinct creative directions, exploring how typography, colour, illustration, and imagery could give Bisou its own personality.
Each direction offered a different interpretation of the concept, from atmospheric and celestial to bold and contemporary, or soft and romantic.
modern.
a little
magic,
a little

1

celestial collage
deep blues, warm neutrals, layered textures, and hand-drawn celestial elements.
this direction leaned into the romance and mystery of astrology through layered textures, celestial imagery, hand-drawn illustrations and expressive serif typography.
The contrast between dark, atmospheric backgrounds and warm, playful details gave Bisou a distinctive visual personality. The team selected this direction as the foundation for the investor presentation and early brand identity.
2

modern mysticism
structured layouts, bold shapes, and a more contemporary editorial feel.
This direction explored a more graphic, contemporary interpretation of astrology. Bold geometric shapes, a jewel-toned palette, and structured layouts created a distinctive look that could make complex information easier to understand.
It was particularly well suited to presenting Bisou's compatibility system through diagrams and visual storytelling.
3

soft romance
dreamy photography, gentle colours, and expressive line illustrations.
the third direction explored a more emotional, lifestyle-oriented aesthetic. dreamy photography, pastel tones, and delicate line illustrations created a romantic atmosphere with a lighter, more approachable feel.
With a direction chosen, it was time to bring Bisou to life.

Love
written in the stars.
I explored several typographic directions for the Bisou logo, ranging from elegant and understated to more playful and expressive.
The bigger challenge was finding a way to make the heart, such a familiar symbol of love, feel distinctive.
I developed a notched heart and connected it to a star through a sweeping arc, bringing Bisou's astrology-inspired concept into the logo itself. After exploring several variations, the team gravitated toward the notched heart, which became a defining detail of the identity.
The motif continued into the visual language as the product developed.
a little idea,
out in the world.

The early app concepts evolved as Bisou moved toward launch, but the original logo and elements of the visual identity carried through into the finished product.
Bisou is now available on iOS and Android, taking an idea that began with an investor presentation into the hands of real users.
